Eastern Curlews are the largest shorebirds in the world, and use their fancy long curved beaks to dig up unsuspecting invertebrates from the mud. They overwinter on Australian coasts after migrating from China & Russia where they breed.
They are endangered in large part due to degradation of mudflats & coastal habitats along their migratory routes.
