This drawing was created in celebration of the majesty of this majestic vulture species. The Lammergeier is an old world vulture with a diet that consists mostly of bones. When there are bones too large for them to crack or swallow, they drop the bones from massive heights to shatter them on the rocks.
In South Africa their populations are threatened – electrocution on powerlines, accidental poisoning from bait and hunting by humans are the main endangering factors. Their populations are now confined to the Drakensberg Mountains, where conservation projects are being carried out.
Dimensions – 21×29.7cm (A4).
This drawing was created using India Ink & watercolour on 250gsm Fabriano paper.
Prices exclude shipping and framing.
